about

Madrid-based producers Hertzquake & Kxel unleash their latest techno output "Atomic EP" on Combine Audio packed with three dance floor oriented productions.

The release begins with "Pacific", a rather relentless showcase of offbeat percussive synth action coupled with a massive kick drum and sharp hi-hat sequences.

A rather dissonant synth line holds as the central quality of the track that titles the release. "Atomic" features a long breakdown reminiscent of the old school techno days, starring a string pad that serves as the anchor point for raising tension towards the drop.

"Japan" is the closing track of the release. A brief but mysterious intro sequence predicts a thumping rhythm supplemented by a subtle but firm percussion pattern. Distorted vocals evocative of apocalyptic a robot mayhem overthrow a skilful hand clap action, specifically devised to maximize the pressure on each of the track's breakdowns.
